The devil-may-care attitude Malta's construction sector is often accused of was on full display at a building site just off the Gżira seafront this morning.

Photos sent to Times of Malta show workers sitting and standing on a suspended plank of wood as they plaster the side of a high building. No guardrail, harness, fall protection system or safety net can be seen.

EDITORIAL: Malta is at the mercy of untouchables

Times of Malta has forwarded the information to the Occupational Health and Safety Authority. They had yet to reply at the time of writing.

According to local laws, companies which ignore health and safety laws are liable to fines of up to €450 per violation.
