Dairy producer Benna has unveiled a new look and logo, but it's a new screw-on plastic cap for its milk cartons which have grabbed social media attention.

In case you happened to miss the furore, here's what people had to say about the subject.

A clip featuring a man wearing just a T-shirt and underwear as he showed off the plastic cap's usefulness by turning the carton upside down before having a slug went viral, with more than 99,000 views and hundreds of comments.

Reactions to the clip were both positive and negative - of both the new design and the man himself.

A photo of the new milk carton along with a #scrapthecap hashtag was popular, while others were more interested in criticising the man demonstrator and his unorthodox wardrobe.

As environmentalists worry about the effects the new caps will have (and even arrange a protest this afternoon) on Malta's growing waste worries, manufacturer Malta Dairy Products Ltd have defended the change by noting they are of great help to people who previously found it difficult to open their milk cartons.

A restaurant worker and her guest told Times of Malta that the practicality and hygienic advantages of the new carton and its plastic cap were great.

Is Benna's cap change a good or bad thing? Are you worried about the new caps, or are protesters milking it?  Whatever your opinion, send us your comments in the comment section below.
