When Adrian Delia kept asking: “where is the surplus?”, the new leader of the Nationalist Party and the Opposition, as well as self-appointed leader of Maltese “Catholics and Latins” in our country, had not realised that when asking such a  manifestly stupid question he was opening himself to political ridicule of the highest order which would inevitably be coming from his political adversary, namely, the Prime Minister as well as the Minister of Finance, Edward Scicluna during the budget speech and the Prime Minister’s reply to Dr Delia’s speech on the budget.

Indeed, even after listening to the budget speech, Dr Delia repeated the same ludicrous question: “Where is the surplus?”, when all the social partners except for the PN-leaning UĦM, have commented very positively about this budget.

It is not surprising then that the first public opinion survey result published in another section of the press since Dr Delia’s oath of office as leader of the Opposition, puts Dr Delia’s trust rating at 29 points behind Joseph Muscat.
