The InterContinental Hotel won two categories at the World Travel Awards, scooping the Leading Hotel Award in Malta, as well as the best suite award for its Presidential Suite.

The Palace in Sliema was voted as Malta’s Leading Business Hotel at the 24th edition of the awards, which were held in St Petersburg, Russia.

The Xara Palace won the Leading Boutique Hotel, and the Westin was feted as Malta’s best resort. Avis was named Malta’s leading car rental company.

The World Travel Awards programme was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. These awards have been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the travel industry by The Wall Street Journal and the winners are selected on an annual basis by an international panel of hospitality experts, trade professionals, and the public.
