A fire at the Dolmen Resort Hotel in Qawra saw guests and staff evacuate the building this afternoon as a safety precaution.   

The fire was reported at around 12.15pm in the sauna at the hotel's leisure centre.  Nobody was hurt during the incident and the hotel resumed normal operations within an hour. 

Police said Civil Protection Department firefighters were sent to the scene to bring the situation under control. In a brief statement, hotel management thanked the CPD for their prompt action. 

The Dolmen Resort Hotel is a four-star establishment featuring 413 rooms and suites, restaurants, a spa, casino and other facilities. The fire comes just months after the resort underwent extensive refurbishment works
