A €1 million Maltese film is currently being shot at the Malta Film Studios.
Head features an almost exclusively Maltese cast, with only two of its crew members being foreign.
The full-feature 90-minute film is being directed by Winston Azzopardi and has been awarded €120,000 under the Malta Film Fund 2017. It will also benefit from 32 per cent incentives on its audiovisual costs.
Head follows a 24-minute short film by the same name which won Mr Azzopardi awards at film festivals in Rome and San Francisco last year.
That film starred Mr Azzopardi's son, Joe, as a sailor locked inside the toilet of a boat steaming along the busy Sicily straits to Malta.
With that short film having made waves, the project is now being shot as full-feature film, with scenes shot at the Grand Harbour, Malta Film Studios and Dwejra.
Head will be ready for distribution in June 2018.
