PACE PARASCANDALO. On September 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, to Rita née Attard and Luciano, God’s precious gift of a daughter – LOUISA MAE, a most welcome sister to Julia Marie. Thanks to the Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary.  Heartfelt gratitude to the midwives who cared for us. Special thanks to midwife, Ms Pauline Borg, whose professional and compassionate midwifery care was outstanding.

BORG. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, Grace née Galea,  aged 65, from Gżira, passed peacefully away surrounded by her family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She  leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Roberto, her children Fabio and his wife Mariella, Claudia and her husband Nigel, Marco, Stefano and his girlfriend Claudia, Martina, her grandchildren Luke, Federica and Elise, her sisters Rose, Terry and Frida, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, October 10, at 1.30pm for Jesus of Nazzareth church, The Strand, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2pm. We kindly ask mourners not to wear black. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

BORG. On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARY, née Tonna, of St Julian’s, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church . She leaves to mourn her sad loss her children Johanna and her husband Alex Sceberras Trigona, Joseph E., Maria and her husband Leif Karlsson, her beloved grandchildren Alexia, Angela , Francesca and Michela, her brother Richard and his wife Maria, her in-laws, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, October 10, at 1.30 pm for Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Balluta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 pm followed by interment in the family grave at St Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

FRENDO. On October 6, at Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre, JEROME of Attard, aged 20, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved parents Kenneth and Josette, his brother Jethro, his girlfriend Martina Fenech, his aunt, Sr Rachel Frendo, Mother Provincial of the Augustinian Sisters, his grandparents, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Sunday, October 8 at 2.15pm for St Dominic church, Rabat, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm followed by interment in the family grave at St Andrew’s (Sant’Andrija) cemetery, Żebbuġ. It has always been Jerome’s wish that all family and friends attending the funeral service should not wear black. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Foundation, Mater Dei Hospital, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the extraordinary consultants and staff of Rainbow Ward, Ward 2 and the Radiotherapy Department within Sir Anthony Mamo Oncology Centre.

MULVANEY. SUSAN, On October 7, at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 71. She leaves to mourn her irreparable loss her husband Charles Sacco and their two daughters Marika (Associate Tutor, University of Sheffield) and her husband, Consultant Surgeon Marcel Gatt and granddaughter Klara; and Daniela (head, St Aloysius Primary) and her husband Robert (manager, HSBC) and granddaughter Maya, as well as her brother James and his wife Lily, Isabella and her husband Jimmy Vella, Carmen (widow of Richard), Lourdes (widow of George) and Victor Zammit and John Spiteri, widower of Mary Rose, in-laws Denise, Ninette, Leonard, Paul and Frank (residing in Australia), their respective spouses, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends, including the numerous listeners of her programmes. The funeral will leave Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, October 10, at 2.15pm for the Rotunda parish church, Mosta, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3pm followed by interment in the family vault at Mosta cemetery. Grant her, O Lord, eternal rest.

TONNA. On October 6, at Mater Dei Hospital, EMANUEL, known as Noel, of Floriana, residing in Balzan, passed peacefully away at the age of 67 comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lina, his children Clive and his wife Claire, Louise and her husband Christopher Attard, Doriana and her husband Roderick Cristina, his grandchildren Gabriella, Kurt, Giulia, his brothers and sisters and their in-laws, his wife’s brothers and their in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow, Monday, October 9, at 1.45pm for Balzan parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated at 2.30pm followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank all Santa Bernardetta Home nurses, doctors and staff for their help and dedication.

In Memoriam

ATTARD – EDWARD (Dwardu). Today the 17th anniversary of his death. Never forgotten by his daughters Victoria, Veronica, Vanessa and all the family. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

BRIFFA – LILIAN, née Gatt Rutter, died tragically on October 4, 1999. Deeply missed and always in our thoughts. Edward and Annamaria, Joanna and Hugh and grandchildren. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DARMENIA – ANTHONY DARMENIA, Ph.C. Treasured memories of a dear father and grandfather on the 31st anniversary of his demise. Forever in our hearts and prayers. His family. Mass for the repose of his soul will be said today at 11.30am at Balzan parish church.

MAMO. In loving memory of MOIRA who passed away on October 8, 2015. Fondly remembered by her mother Gerty, her brother Anthony, his wife Simona and her nephew Matthew.

Dun Karm’s chapel of repose

The chapel of national poet Dun Karm at the Sacred Heart cemetery in Żebbuġ will be open every Sunday, including October 13 and 18, between 8am and 1pm.

Monthly meetings

The Malta Adlerian Psychology Association will start with its monthly meetings again on October 17 at Le Meridien Hotel, St Julian’s at 6.30pm. Joyce Callus will talk about ‘Enhancing the bond between parents and children’.

Retreat in the countryside

The Jesuit Centre for Ignatian Spirituality is organising a ‘Retreat in the Countryside’ led by Clare Camilleri and Maria Theresa Portelli at Mount St Joseph Retreat House, Mosta, from October 20 to 22. The retreat is inspired by the person of St Peter, his call to be a fisherman of souls and what this means in our lives.
