• The feast of St Francis of Assisi will be celebrated at Our Lady of Graces Sanctuary, Victoria, today. Minister Provincial Effie Mallia, OFM Cap. will lead Mass at 9am, followed by the traditional blessing of pets and animals on the church parvis. The feast will also be celebrated at St Anthony church in Għajnsielem with the participation of the St Joseph Band. The blessing of animals will start at 10.30am.
• Women’s Cancer Gozo Association will be organising an awareness walk to Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary and back today at 10am. The meeting point is in front of the statue of John Paul II in Victoria.
• Transformers: The Last Knight (12A) will be screened at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria, today at 5.30pm.
• A Celebration of Light (fjakkolata) will take place at Santa Luċija today from 7pm. Għar Ilma Hill will be lit up with hundreds of lanterns and torches.
• A blood donation session will be held at the Gozo General Hospital on Tuesday between 1pm and 5pm.
• A charity sale by the Friends of the Sick and Elderly in Gozo will be held at Victoria Football Ground, next to the car park, today from 7.30am to 1pm.
• The Catholic Action (Gozo) general assembly will take place at Żebbuġ parish church on Saturday. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will concelebrate Mass at 6pm.This year’s motto is Mission of Hope.
• The Aurora Opera Theatre will present a double bill production of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci by Pietro Mascagni and Ruggero Leoncavallo respectively on Saturday at 7.30pm. The Aurora Theatre is celebrating 40 years of opera in Gozo.
• Gozitan artist Anthony Caruana is holding his 25th solo exhibition, entitled Muted Echoes, at the Citadel Cultural Centre in Victoria until October 30. The abstract works exhibition has toured several places and has participated in the International Art Expo at Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Lebanon. The collection has also been on view at the United Nations headquarters.
• Il-Fergħa Ewkaristika (Għawdex) will hold an hour of adoration at Our Lady of Pompeii church, Victoria, on Thursday from 9 to 10am. The rosary will be recited at 8.45am. Everyone is invited.
• The sixth apparition of Our Lady of Fatima will be celebrated with Mass by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at Ta’ Ħamet church on Friday at 6pm, followed by a pilgrimage with the statue of Our Lady of Fatima. The celebration will end with Eucharistic benediction.
• National poet Dun Karm Psaila will be remembered with a commemorative event , entitled Rodd il-Ħniena lis-Sid, Saħħa l-Ħaddiem, at the Gozo Ministry Hall on Friday at 7pm.
