Several teachers of French at schools in Malta received bursaries from the French Embassy to attend a two-week courses during summer to further their studies in education and in the French language in various institutes and universities in Besançon, Bordeaux and Montpellier.

Prascovia Deidun, head of the Department for French at the Secretariat for Catholic Education, Tiziana Calleja from St Paul’s Missionary College and Rachel Bartolo Delmar from St Edwards College attended a pedagogical course on the use of interactive white boards, media, thea­tre and art for French language teaching. Sara Bondin from Our Lady Immaculate School attended a linguistic course on how to orally tackle ‘l’analyse du texte’ and ‘la critique d’un film’. Leanne Galea from Sacred Heart College carried out in-class observations at the Centre de Français of C.H.E.A.M.-I.A.M.M in Montpellier on how to develop project-based learning for students of French.

Nick O’Neill from San Andrea School attended a course on how to motivate teens through active pedagogy and took part in forums on teaching French to students with dyslexia, especially using a multi-sensorial approach.
