Indian classical music duo Swara, made up of Anthony Curmi and Noel Scerri, are performing in St Julian’s tomorrow.

The musicians present a modern approach to the ancient sounds of Indian music.  In order to achieve this blend, the band uses only sitar and keys.

The sitar is a plucked stringed instrument used mainly in Hindustani music and is believed to have been derived from the veena, an ancient Indian instrument, while the keys is a musical instrument played using a keyboard.

By combining the two seemingly opposing instruments, Swara manages to create a particularly unique sound.

The performance will be held tomorrow at 8pm at Sharma Ethnic Cuisines, Portomaso Marina, St Julian’s. For more information, visit the event’s Facebook page. Entrance is free.
