I was so pleased to be among about 300 people who protested against developing a green area in Pembroke. It’s about time the people show their disapproval of encroaching on open spaces, which are getting so short everywhere. It was good to hear the Environment Minister say it was high time the government made the environment a priority.

But then he refrained from commenting on the take-up of ODZ land, such as that at Żonqor Point. Is he in favour or against such a drastic policy, which goes against the people’s interest?

And what about the unprecedented barrage of applications for further development inWied Għomor?

We at San Ġwann and Swieqi hardly have any breathing spaces left if this green lung between our two towns is eventually taken over.

The government must put its foot downand control the Planning Authority’s crave to please developers.
