I applaud Joseph Muscat on his CNN interview for stating his doubts about the UK ever leaving the European Union. Of course, they mirror my own but that is not why I am writing.

I see a poll of hard-line Brexiteers reveals that: 1.39 per cent of Brexiteers say that losing their jobs will be worth the price of Brexit; 61 per cent say economic damage to the UK is a good price to pay for leaving the UK and 19 per cent of Remainers say the inevitable economic damage to the UK would be good as it would “teach the Brexiteers a lesson”.

I respond thus.

The 39 per cent of Brexiteers have never worked in their lives.

The 61 per cent of Brexiteers who want to damage the UK economy are the same set of people who would have supported Adolph Hitler as he destroyed the Weimar Republic.

The 19 per cent of Remainers are quite right to say we need to decline as a nation before we can ever arise again.

Now I doubt the UK would go as far as to seek an alliance with America. Yet, nothing is off the cards.

The UK is so confused that anything can happen. However, from this confusion, a greater dawn will shine and, through strife and disharmony, the very idea of leaving Eurocare will become a horror of very distant memory. So let the lazy Brexiteers watch the telly and wonder why – in the months ahead – their benefits are switched off as economic reality bites.
