Jean Paul Farrugia's Chiasso are set to feature in their biggest game of the season after they have been drawn against Swiss giants and holders Basel in the last 16 of the Swiss Cup.

Chiasso claimed a last 16 berth courtesy of Farrugia's solitary goal in extra-time, in yesterday's victory over SC Bruhl Saint Gallen.

The Malta international will be in action against Basel either on September 16 or September 17, as the dates are still to be announced.

Their recent meeting in the cup was in 2012, when Basel won 4-1 with the likes of Mohammed Salah, now at Liverpool, still with the Swiss club.

Basel are one of the most successful clubs in Swiss football, having won the league 20 times, including the 2016-2017 edition and triumphed in the domestic cup 12 times, including the last edition.

They will be representing Switzerland in this season's UEFA Champions League.
