A man accused of cocaine-related charges inadvertently approached plainclothes police officers and offered to sell them drugs, a court heard today. 

23-year-old Abdelkader Chergui, who lives in Ħal Far, stands accused of dealing cannabis and cocaine within 100 metres of a place frequented by youths.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody after the court denied him bail. 

In another arraignment, 21-year-old Marsascala resident Sacid Mohamed Abdillahi pleaded not guilty to possessing cannabis in circumstances which indicated it was not intended for his personal use.  

He was denied bail and remains in police custody.
