Philip Mulryne, the former Northern Ireland football international and now newly ordained Dominican priest recently visited Gozo together with two of his colleagues.

The 39-year-old ex-Manchester United player, originally from Belfast, forms part of the Dominican chaplaincy team at Newbridge College, Co Kildare.

Fr Mulryne, who is reported to have once earned £600,000 a year, celebrated Mass at St George’s Basilica and visited the Citadel, the Cathedral and Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary. During his visit various Man. United fans posed for a photo with Fr Philip (second, from right), who is seen here at a coffee shop in St George’s Square, Victoria, with, from left,  Fr Kevin Leavey, Maltese deacon Fr Alan Adami and Mgr Anton Borg.
