The heroic act of MP Ivan Bartolo, of donating one of his kidneys to a 31-year-old man, reminded me of another heroic act by a Chicago priest, Fr Gary Graf, 44. In 2002, Fr Graf donated part of his own liver to save the life of Miguel Savala, who had been given six months to live.
Both acts of heroism, and others that are not covered by the media, vividly recall the word of Jesus: “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13).
