Photovoltaic panels are more popular in Gozo than Malta with official statistics showing that the top 10 localities for the number of installed panels per thousand population were all located in Gozo and Comino in 2015. 

National Statistics Office data on resources shows that the stock of PV installations amounted to 17,988 - of which 84.3% were installed in Malta, the rest in Gozo and Comino.

The northern harbour and western districts accounted for 45.1% of the installations in Malta.

Nationwide, the domestic sector accounted for 94.8% of the total stock with the remaining 5.2 % divided among the commercial (4%) and public (1.2%) sectors.

According to the figures, water consumption registered uninterrupted increases between 2010 and 2015 but network losses continued to decrease.

When it came to waste, the collection of separated dry recyclables through bring in sites was considerably lower than that collected in 2011 but a year on year increase was registered in the grey/green bag collection.

Glass, which is only collected from residences once a month, had the highest share of all material collected from bring-in sites - 44.9% in Malta and 50.9% in Gozo.

Separated waste from civic amenity sites increased by 2,155 tons in Malta and by 595 tonnes in Gozo and Comino.

Municipal waste generation amounted to 269,316 tonnes, an increase of 5.5% for Malta and a decline of 0.9% in the Gozo/Comino region over 2014.
