Gozo has the highest ratio of vehicles to residents, with a staggering 983 vehicles to 1,000 residents in 2015, according to NSO data issued this week.
The southern harbour district of Malta registered the lowest ratio with 736 vehicles per 1,000 residents.
The average age of passenger cars in Malta stood at 13.9 years, with the oldest cars being in the south of Malta at just over 15 years, followed by Gozo at 14.4.
