The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers today.

Times of Malta reports that an arrest warrant against former minister John Dalli was issued in 2013 after Attorney General Peter Grech had given his consent in writing to charge him with trading in influence and bribery. The police were unable to execute the warrant at the time because Mr Dalli was abroad.

In-Nazzjon and most of the other newspapers report how a ship carrying a small number of migrants was stranded yesterday, having been refused entry by Malta and Italy. In-Nazzjon also reports that several wards and ambulances at Mater Dei Hospital lack functioning air conditioning despite the soaring heat.

The Malta Independent says Simon Busuttil has been short of answers on Mario Galea's scathing criticism of the PN. It also says that high temperatures have pushed demand for electricity to a new high.

l-orizzont says the possibility of a debate between the PN leadership candidates has been scrapped, with Frank Portelli having refused to take part, saying it would harm the party.
