The Archbishop's Curia ended the 2016 financial year with a €752,000 surplus, it was announced this morning.

At the same time, the Archdiocese of Malta ended the year with a profit of some €1.1 million.

Announcing the church's financial results for 2016, administrative secretary Michael Pace Ross said that as a result of the surplus the Church could continue its pastoral work with children, young people, families, the elderly, people with disability and those in need.

In 2016, the Archdiocese registered an income of €36.1 million while expenditure reached €36.2 million. Gains on investment allowed the Archdiocese to end the year in profit.
