Marsal Muzajk, a hands-on mosaic event, was held in Marsalforn for the second consecutive year.

Earlier this year, mosaicist Mary Portelli invited a group of students from the Gozo College to her workshop, where she introduced them to the art of mosaic and to the stairs project.

Equipped with the basic mosaic skills, the students were trained how to guide visitors to the mosaic artworks in gluing tesserae.

The artworks will eventually be mounted on the lower risers of the stairs next to the police station in Marsalforn. The design represents the sun and the sea, summer and winter and the conversion and shipwreck of St Paul, the patron saint of the church found at the end of the stairs.
