Reading the report about the employment of police officers with a criminal record I realised the relevance of the truism of ‘setting a thief to catch a thief’.

I would venture to suggest that, in future, a criminal record should be one of the conditions for joining our singular police force. Perhaps, the police force would find its way to the Guinness Book of Records.

Pity there is no Nobel Prize for such a category. But, even so, we must all acknowledge that this is quite an achievement.
