A new BSc. Nursing (Hons) (Elderly Care) has been launched by the University of Malta’s Faculty of Health Sciences. The two- to three-year part-time evening course will start in October and is aimed at holders of the Higher Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies), the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing Studies) or similar qualifications.

A number of nurses at St Vincent de Paul residence will be sponsored to enrol in the course.

The programme of studies will provide qualified nurses with competencies and skills in the care of the elderly, including preventive, medical, rehabilitative and palliative aspects of care in community, hospital and long-term settings. Topics such as dementia, nutrition and pharmacology will be addressed.
