Kurt Farrugia, in his Talking point last Friday, argued in his half-page litany that the Nationalist Party lost the election on account of Simon Busuttil. As “head of government communications”, I think he failed his master terribly. So, Joseph Muscat won the election because of Busuttil and not on account of Muscat’s huge achievements. Not one sentence on this.

The article in question has shown that all the talk about national conciliation, shaking hands and other bluff raised in the government’s speech on the opening of Parliament was, and is, all gas.

In his official position, Farrugia should have known that he was writing about the leader of the Opposition but, I suspect, he is not able to make such distinctions. As head of communications, he should communicate and explain government decisions and not launch attacks on the leader of the Opposition.

It is bad for people to think that Farrugia’s article has the government’s blessing.
