Youths should not let anyone keep them from being ambitious, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today when addressing the extraordinary general meeting of the Forum Żgħażagħ Laburisti.

Dr Muscat said the FŻL had always been the precursor of the Labour Party coming up with ideas which were then taken up by the party and the country.

In 1997, for example, it had made attempts for divorce to be placed on the national agenda. This right became reality 14 years later.

Other rights - such as marriage equality - followed and recreational marijuana was now on the agenda.

Young people, Dr Muscat said, had to continue to be the agents of change. The FŻL had to promote changes such as the need for more women in politics even through the project LEAD.

He congratulated Naomi Cachia who will be taking over from Alex Saliba as FŻL president.

The meeting was also addressed by PL deputy leaders Chris Fearne and Chris Cardona.
