The Italian Navy's sailing training ship Palinuro will be arriving in Malta on Tuesday and berthing at Pinto Wharf, where it will remain until the early morning of August 5.

The port visit in Valletta marks the start of the 53rd training campaign of the chief petty officers (CPO) cadets from the Italian navy CPO school located in Taranto. The cadets embarked on July 25 in Brindisi. Next ports of call include Greece, Turkey and then Cyprus, prior to going back to Italy, in Portoferraio, Tuscany.

The main task for the cadets is to achieve the essence of being sailors and to be exposed for the first time to a full experience of the maritime world to master their profession in the navy and to get acquainted with the marine environment.

The public will be able to visit the ship on August 1 from 4pm to 7pm; August 2, between 10am and noon and from 4 to 6pm; August 3 from 10am to noon and 4 to 7pm; and on August 4 between 4 and 7pm.
