I refer to Kurt Farrugia’s vitriolic attack on Simon Busuttil (July 21).

I can easily tell from the tone of his poisonous piece of nonsense that he bears a lot of animosity towards Busuttil and I can understand why. Busuttil is the very antithesis of what Farrugia, his leaders, his ministers, parliamentary secretaries, persons in positions of trust and the rest of the unsavoury bunch are.

Like other Nationalist Party leaders before him, whatever Farrugia thinks, Busuttil brought honesty, decency and dignity into politics. Farrugia and his lot, on the other hand, in the space of four years have turned these islands into a nation where anything goes. People do not give a hoot about corruption in high places because Farrugia’s lot has contaminated them, corrupted them and turned them into their clones.

Busuttil came out against corruption. For Farrugia this was sowing divisiveness. He calls this a frame-up and people believe him. He and his lot have managed to sell manure back to bulls and horses but we’re not all bulls and horses. People who break the law, people who allegedly take “commissions” to populate illegal trusts, people suspected of money laundering, people who are under magisterial investigations should not be lawmakers. They do not belong in Parliament. Unfortunately, the clones, the ones who were given jobs/promotions/positions of trust/contracts/tenders/public land/building permits etc, decided otherwise.

I do not believe in justice or that truth shall prevail but I do believe that what goes round will come round. I hope that when the PN returns to power, whoever will be in charge will not make the same mistake that Eddie Fenech Adami made in 1987 and attempt any sort of political reconciliation. Those in charge must continue with Busuttil’s mission to bring this corrupt lot to justice.

I for one will shed a tear when Busuttil departs.
