The English pub has been around for over 2,000 years and man has mainly dominated the running of pubs. Now, a young lady from Cumbria, Chloe Hogg, has been granted a supervisor’s licence to manage her father’s pub, Fantails, in Wetheral Cumbria.

The girl, who just turned 18, is now the youngest landlady in Britain. I have been a pub landlord for over 35 years and I have always believed that running a pub is a man’s job. However, I contacted her through Facebook and congratulated her on her achievement despite her tender age.

She may lack experience but her determination is top notch and I sincerely hope that, with a little bit of help, especially from dad, she will make it.
