Several activities were held in Gozo to commemorate the 203th anniversary of the establishment of the Malta police force.

Mass was celebrated by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, assisted by the Malta and Gozo police chaplains Fr Raymond Bonnici, OFM Cap and Mgr Paul Cardona respectivly, at Santa Marija cemetery chapel. It was attended by Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar, police officers, representatives of police organisations and relatives.

After Mass, Mgr Grech blessed the police graves, followed by the laying of wreaths. The celebration ended with the sounding of the Last Post and a minute’s silence.

A social activity was later held at Il-Menqa in Marsalforn, with the participation of the police band and the Music and Voice Academy of Mosta. Displays by the Precision Drill Team and the Police Dogs Section were also held.

Police Commissioner Lawrence Cutajar presented a memento toPS 947 Adrian Paul Vella for his long and efficient service in the Precision Drill Team on his retirement from the force.
