A number of measures to encourage students to continue with their education were announced during the launch of the University of Malta’s Junior College prospectus for the 2017-8 academic year. The prospectus is available online at www.jc.um.edu.mt.

Applicants may be admitted to the college if they have six passes at SEC level or equivalent in Maltese, English, maths, a science subject and two other subjects. For the first time, the two other subjects may be vocational subjects at SEC level.

Students who need to repeat their first or second year at Junior College – even if they used to attend a different sixth form – may also apply to join the college. Students who find it difficult to complete the course within two years for various reasons, may in exceptional circumstances be given more time to complete the course.

Moreover, students who must suspend their studies, for valid extraordinary reasons, will be given the opportunity to restart the following year without being considered as repeaters.

Students who are not eligible to proceed with their studies may now repeat their first year once and may also repeat their second year once. In previous years, students could only repeat a year once.

Qualified students and those awaiting results, including from the SEC September session, are to apply at the website below between August 1 and 8.
