An independent external quality assurance audit of St Martin’s Institute of Higher Education, Ħamrun, has found at the institute surpasses requirements in two standards – that dealing with student-centred learning and the standard for cyclical external quality assurance, and meets most of the 11 standards set by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE).

The institute said it is the only local education institution so far that has been found by an audit to surpass expectations in two standards, including the most important standard – the attention it provides to students. It added that its “pedagogy and methodology has been tested throughout the years of preparing students for third-party examinations, and this audit has spotted the care towards the well-being of students as the core value of the institute”.

St Martin’s Institute of Higher Education is an affiliate of the University of London, and more than 40 per cent of its students manage to achieve a first class honours. It offers a wide range of programmes at diploma, degree and postgraduate level. The institute said it is already very much involved in research, and it academics and students have had research published in international peer reviewed journals and presented in scientific conferences.
