A 37-year-old woman has been granted bail after threatening two wardens with a piece of wood in Birzebugia yesterday.

Visibly nervous, Marouska Camilleri, a hairdresser from Żabbar, this afternoon pleaded guilty to insulting and threatening two wardens, disobeying their orders and breaking public peace.

Defence lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Chris Busietta told the court she had already expressed regret about her behaviour.

When Magistrate Ian Farrugia warned her about her actions, Ms Camilleri said she was deeply sorry.

Magistrate Farrugia ordered that a pre-sentencing inquiry report to be compiled.

Sources said Ms Camilleri was stopped by two wardens who noticed that two children riding with her in the backseat of the car were not wearing a seatbelt. The woman threatened them with a piece of wood that she was carrying in the car.

She was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 and was ordered to sign a bail book once a week.

Inspector Melvyn Camilleri prosecuted.
