I quite agree with Archbishop Charles Scicluna when, during his homily at St John’s Co-Cathedral on Police Day, he told the highest-ranking officers present that their duty was towards all the people and should never be to serve a political party in government.

But may I also remind him that, as Archbishop, he should also practise what he preaches by being of service to all the people and never to serve any particular political party, be it in government or in opposition. His tweet about “carob and orange trees” also makes sense. Indeed, it had been reported that, in his student days at the University, he was a “PN carob tree”. He still is, even though today he is supposed to have become an “orange tree”.
