It was good to read that legislation will be introduced to stop smoking in cars where children are present. (How I wish it had been around in the 1960s.)

What concerns me, however, is that my 20-year-old tells me that smoking in the Paceville haunts she visited, while on holiday with us, is still happening.

This was confirmed, with that most Maltese of shoulder shrugs, when I queried this blatant lack of application of the basic law among friends and family. Why?
