I have it from a perceptive friend that certain levels of corruption are acceptable within Maltese society. They are even envied and encouraged, as happens in some of our neighbouring countries. Most people would not bat an eyelid at evidence of corruption in our society as long as bread and butter issues are addressed to their satisfaction and currying favours continues. The Labour Party’s tactics have shown this to be oh so true.

In Lutheran Scandinavian countries, the level of corruption is very low and society is more righteous. The Danes are known to be the happiest Europeans.

The Nationalist Party leaders appear to have taken hold of the wrong end of the stick in ranting endlessly and monotonously about corruption rather than in handling the people’s needs through frequent home visits.

Facebook messages in English seem to have affected a very small section indeed.

A complete change of tack is necessary if the PN is to meet people’s most intimate needs and requirements.

Let us see what a reborn PN can bravely come up with, together with a healthy measure of Churchillian pluck and humour.
