Outstanding Creative Arts students at Mcast were recently awarded for their work during a surprise awards ceremony.
The five awards, for photography, documentary filmmaking, film, media and journalism, were sponsored by the Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism.
Institute for the Creative Arts director Tyrone Grima told attendees that work to open a journalism studio at the Institute is at an advanced stage and should be completed in time for the upcoming academic year. The studio will include state-of-the-art TV and radio recording facilities, kitted out with cutting-edge hardware and software and space to place, develop, produce and broadcast media content.
President Emeritus Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, who chairs the Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism, urged the students to develop their talent and their individual style. “You were using the phrase ‘finding yourself’. In fact, each one of us, in the work we do, starts forming himself/herself and this is where these courses and experiences get you,” he said.
