Chris Said and Adrian Delia are officially in the running for the Nationalist Party leadership, with the two men both submitting his nomination at the party’s headquarters this morning.

Dr Said was the first to submit his nomination, and in a Facebook post the former minister said that he was not running for the post out of a sense of “adventure or personal ambition” but rather because he believed his years of political experience meant he was up to the task of strengthening the PN.

Dr Delia, a lawyer and political outsider who also served as president of Birkirkara FC until last month, soon followed and submitted his nomination before 10am.

Outgoing party treasurer Alex Perici Calascione has also said he intends to run for the party leadership. Broadcaster David Thake has not ruled out a leadership bid, while MP Claudio Grech and MEP Roberta Metsola have been more coy about their intentions.

Candidates have until Wednesday to submit their nomination.
