Waterproofing works are underway on the Kappara flyover, the final stage before tarmac is laid on the road.

Workers on site told the Times of Malta that the waterproofing membrane had to be laid meticulously to avoid any seepage during wet winter months.

Once tarmac is laid, the flyover will be tested to ensure it can handle the weight of both moving and static traffic. Vehicles will be loaded onto the structure and specialised equipment will test how the flyover responds.

The €23 million project may have taken years to get going, but so far it is proceeding on time. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of summer.
