Around 60 members of the public strolling through Valletta yesterday had their blood sugar level, blood pressure and body mass index checked by members of the St John Association.

The health check was part of a series of activities organised by the Association to mark the July 1 St John Commemoration, with members of St John Ambulance, St John Rescue Corps and St John Training Branch carrying out various demonstrations.

The association runs various first aid and rescue courses as well as providing ambulance, fire rescue and lifeguard cover.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca inspected Association members outside parliament square.
