The Mnarja Band Philharmonic celebrated its 50th anniversary with a concert, entitled ‘Big Band Adventures’, at St Peter and St Paul Square in Nadur. The band was directed by Mro Joseph Grech, who this year is marking his 25th anniversary as the band’s musical director.

The concert was supported by three outstanding pop singers – Ruth Portelli Bezzina, Francesca Sciberras and Francesco Joseph Nicodeme, who  featured in Bacellona, Hermes House Band Medley, The Best of Abba and Boney M. Mega Mix.

The band performed An Operatic Nightmare, Africa, Hans Zimmer Movie Milestones and Stars of Rock’n Roll. Later, The Travellers band joint forces with the Mnarja Band and performed one of their most popular numbers Semplicità. The evening ended with Classic Hit Mix No.1, and a spectacle of synchronised fireworks.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, who attended this special performance, unveiled a commemorative plaque which will be place in a prominent place within the band club’s premises.
