Valletta scored a goal in each half to see off Folgore, of San Marino, 2-0 in the opening leg of the Europa League first qualifying round match at the Hibs Stadium.

The Citizens dominated proceedings at the Hibs Stadium but they struggled to create any decent scoring opportunities for much of the first half.

In fact, they had to wait until the 41st minute to find the breakthrough. Uchenna Umeh picked Steve Borg inside the area and the City defender headed the ball past Folgore goalkeeper Luca Bianchi.

Valletta doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when Umeh was again the provider when his through-ball put Maximilian Velasco clear and the Argentine striker kept his poise to fire the ball past Bianchi.

Mifsud almost grabbed a third a minute from time but his firm drive was pushed away by Bianchi.
