I would like to make it clear that, although I support amending the 2012 restrictive IVF law and agree being extended to single women too, it does not mean I am in anyway involved. I am a civil servant in a clerical grade, not a doctor. All I know is that the first thing one should do is to visit a gynaecologist and leave the rest to him/her.

True, I have even organised an online petition on my Facebook page but I always supported just causes such as the legalisation of contraceptives, the issue of divorce and, recently, the amendment to the 2012 IVF law.

No, I am no atheist or non churchgoer but when I believe it is a just cause I always give my full support. Maybe the next step should be the reopening of family planning clinics in government health centres and perhaps organising a marriage preparatory course.

After all, the politicians’ duty is to their citizens not their morals.
