NORTHAMPTON: Chinese company 5USport has agreed to purchase a majority stake in English League One side Northampton Town, the club said in a statement. 5USport, a sports development and education firm, will purchase a stake in Northampton Town Ventures Limited, who own the majority shareholding in the club, following approval from the English Football League.

BASTIA: Coach Rui Almeida has left crisis-hit Bastia, the club have announced. Bastia were relegated from Ligue 1 on the last day of the season after defeat to Marseille, and were last week hit with a further demotion on financial grounds subject to an appeal. As things stand they will line up in the third tier, the Championnat National.

BREMEN: Werder Bremen have struck a deal to sign Slavia Prague goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka, the Bundesliga side have announced. Czech Republic international Pavlenka is expected to undergo a medical in Bremen and put pen to paper later in the week. The 25-year-old told Werder’s official website: “The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in the world and Werder are a massive club.”

JOVIC: Eintracht Frankfurt have signed young Benfica forward Luka Jovic on a two-year loan deal. The Bundesliga club have an option to buy the 19-year-old, who joined Benfica from Red Star Belgrade in 2016. Frankfurt’s director of sport Fredi Bobic said: “We’re delighted the loan has gone through and hope Luka acclimatises as quickly as possible.”

HALLIDAY: Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday is on his way to Austria to complete a season-long loan to Azerbaijani outfit Qabala. The boyhood Gers supporter has been told he is no longer part of Pedro Caixinha’s plans and is free to leave. He leaves just  after he had been left out of the Europa League squad.
