I read about a European Union administrator who, inflamed by his own importance and fuelled by alcohol (mojitos he had been drinking between 7pm and midnight), allegedly hit an Italian woman of Jewish descent with a decorative plaque commemorating the achievements of Benito Mussolini (June 10).

He apparently suggested that Hitler did not do a good job “by finishing off the Jews”.

Allowed into a position of prominence, his conviction for paedophilia offences held no sway. So we allow racists and paedophiles to represent our best interests, it seems.

Racists and paedophiles have no place in Maltese society and they need to be filtered out and banned from political activity both here and abroad.

On a broader front, anyone harbouring similar views in commerce and industry should be treated with equal indignity and contempt.

So, let this be a warning to those who love to hate. Make them feel bad. Challenge their behaviour. These are the types of people who harbour darker thoughts – child abusers, wife abusers – afflicted by deeper psychological issues involving sexual identity suppression issues.

The person in question has managed to obtain six months sick leave and counselling from a psychologist, no doubt at government expense. Simply because he has been found out.

Certain abominations should be best left in the hands of experts at high ranking institutions, like Mount Carmel Hospital. They should be incarcerated and kept at bay lest they infect the rest of us with their inhumane and filthy rhetoric. They should be kept well away from our own front doors.
