• Today, Xewkija celebrates the feast of St John the Baptist. A concelebrated Mass by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will be said at 8.45am. Fr Marcello Ghirlando, OFM, will deliver the panegyric. The Duke of Connaught’s Own Band of Birkirkara will play marches along the main streets of Xewkija at 11.30am. Xewkija archpriest Mgr Daniel Xerri will lead a solemn concelebrated Mass at 6.15 pm, while Fr Roberto Gauci will deliver the sermon. The procession starts at 7.45pm, accompanied by the Precursor Band. The antiphon and Sacramental Benediction will bring the religious festivities to an end at around 10.45pm. The Mnarja Band, under the direction of Mro Joseph Grech, will give a concert at the church square at 8.30pm.

• A blood donation session will be held at the Gozo General Hospital Out-patients Department today from 8am to 1pm.

• The feast of St Peter and St Paul will be celebrated at Nadur Basilica on Thursday. Masses will be said at 5.15am, 6.30, 7.30 and 11.45am and at 5 and 6.30pm. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech will lead a concelebrated Pontifical Mass at 9am; Fr Chris Caruana, OP, will deliver the panegyric. The St Helen Band of Birkirkara and St Gajetan Band of Ħamrun will play popular marches at 11.30am and at noon respectively. Solemn vespers, led by Mgr Antonio Muniz Fernandes, Archbishop of Maceió, Brazil, will be said at 6.30pm. The procession with the statue of the saints, accompanied by the Mnarja Band, will leave the church at 8pm, followed by the antiphon and Sacramental Benediction at 10.30pm.

At the Sacred Heart of Jesus church Masses will be said at 7am, 9.30am and 10.30am, while at the Franciscan Sisters, Mass will be said at 6.30am and at Ta’ Kenuna cemetery chapel at 10am and 11am.

• Members of Il-Fergħa Ewkaristika (Għawdex) will meet at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary to celebrate Mass on Saturday at 3pm and for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 4pm. All are welcome.

• There are currently two temporary collective exhibitions at Il-Ħaġar Museum in Pjazza San Ġorġ, Victoria – The Nature of Metal, including 3D artefacts by Jackie Roberts, Mario Cordina and Rachel Mogg Robinson and a painting exhibition by Patricia Sant and Ramon Vella Bamber as part of the Victoria International Arts Festival.

• The art…e Gallery of Victoria is currently hosting a painting exhibition  by Janet Fox. All works feature different scenes of Gozo where bright colours dominate the paintings. The gallery is situated at 1, Library Street, Victoria and is open daily between 9.30am and 12.15pm. The exhibition will last until Friday.

• Schola Cantorum Jubilate, which over the past 17 years has built an excellent reputation, both locally and abroad, is inviting young choristers to join its children’s choir. They are being given the opportunity to improve their singing ability, while exploring a new and exciting repertoire. Children will also be taught how to develop their musicianship skills, including the ability to read music independently.
