The National Philharmonic Orchestra is today presenting its closing concert for the season.

In this Roman-themed concert, the orchestra sets the scene with Hector  Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture before being joined by the young piano prodigy Dmitry Ishkanov to perform Dmitry Kabalevsky’s Third Piano Concerto.

They will also play Aram Khachaturian’s Spartacus Suite which was inspired by the heroic gladiator who led the slave uprising against the Romans. and which featured in many film scores.

Ottorino Respighi’s Pines of Rome is a symphonic poem which vividly depicts pine trees in four different locations across Rome including the Villa Borghese Gardens and along the Appian Way.

The National Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.
