These are the leading stories in today's local newspapers.

The Times of Malta leads with two main stories, with the first noting that Parliament will open today and the second quoting a Curia spokesman, who denied that the Vatican was planning to replace Archbishop Charles Scicluna.

The front page photo features Alexandra Mamo, Malta's first-ever female assistant police commissioner, shaking hands with Home Affairs Minister Michael Farrugia.

The Malta Independent leads with reports that owners of the abandoned Jerma Palace Hotel in Marsascala are proposing to build a 28-storey tower on the site.

L_Orizzont leads with news that Democratic Party MPs will be invited to Opposition group meetings when parliamentary affairs are being discussed and will be expected to follow the PN's whip's discipline, with the paper headlining the news 'Out of strategy'.

In-Nazzjon reports the same news but gives it a different spin, writing that the PN is ready to cooperate with PD MPs Marlene and Godfrey Farrugia.

Both Maltese language dailies also find similar visual inspiration, with the two papers featuring a photo of the Turkish Stars jets which will feature at this year's Malta International Airshow.
