The mystery of the golden calf and the death of the cotton merchant killed by whiplashes are among the creepy stories to be animated during an eerie event, Dark Tales of the Citadel, being organised by Heritage Malta at the Citadel in Gozo on June 30 from 8pm.

Following the success of the Dark Tales series, Heritage Malta is organising this fourth animated tour based on tales of mystery, legend and the supernatural.

The Citadel in Victoria will take centre stage also featuring the death of Jean Parisot de Valette in the prison of the old and obsolete Castello.

Dark Tales of the Citadel also includes a guided tour by historians George Azzopardi and Godwin Vella. The tour will be animated by well-known actors who will relate the tales of the Citadel and its surroundings.

The event will be followed by refreshments served from a terrace overlooking Victoria.

Only a limited number of tickets are available. Participants must be 16 years or over. Tickets, at €17 for adults and €15 for HM members, seniors and students, can be bought online from shop.heritagemalta.org, or from all Heritage Malta sites and museums.

They include the animated tour, transport from Mġarr to Victoria and back, refreshments, and a bonus complimentary guided tour of Ġgantija Temples to be held on July 1 at 10am.

Participants wanting to use the provided transport from Mġarr to the Citadel should board the 6.45pm ferry from Ċirkewwa to Gozo. They will be able to return to Malta on the ferry leaving Mġarr at 11.15pm.
