A new medicine for bladder cancer has been added to the government formulary in line with the promise to continue increasing cancer medicine available to patients free of charge, Health Minister Chris Fearne said.

The medicine, mitomycin C, will be given from hospital. It reduces the risk of cancer reappearing after it would have been removed.

Some 300 people a year would be benefitting from this new treatment.
