Maltese-owned EC English Language Centres has won two awards for its work in corporate and social responsibility, claiming gold and silver in two main categories at the International CSR Excellence Awards in London.

The awards ceremony took place at the Houses of Parliament, welcoming top names from all areas of industry.

EC was nominated for the Partnerships and Employee Engagement awards, alongside companies like Coca-Cola, Aldi, British Gas, Network Rail, and SAP software.

The international language school claimed gold in the Partnerships category for its recent work with United World Schools (UWS) to build a school for marginalised children in Cambodia. The family-owned company also won silver in the Employee Engagement category.

EC officially partnered with UWS in early 2016 to bring fresh water and education to the 85-family village.

his was part of a wider CSR initiative to improve the prospects of Cambodian children who would not otherwise have access to the resources they need to get the education they deserve.

During a recent 10-day mission in Cambodia, a group of volunteers from EC spent their time teaching, talking to the families about education, encouraging student uptake, and demonstrating a range of teaching methods that locally-based instructors could employ at the new school.
